Syracuse, N.Y. — Syracuse.com has again ranked first among newspaper websites in market share.

The online partner of The Post-Standard was viewed during a seven-day period by 25.6 percent of the population in its seven-county market area in the latest rankings by the Nielsen Scarborough research firm. That placed syracuse.com first among the 139 newspaper websites in the survey.

The website has held the top ranking since 2013.

The Sunday edition of The Post-Standard ranked second in market penetration among 140 Sunday newspapers. It was read by a weekly average of 40 percent of the population in its market area.

“Our team is fully immersed in this commitment to be the premier source for the community,” said Stephen Cvengros, vice president of content for Syracuse Media Group, an Advance Local company that operates the website and newspaper.

“Focusing on news that customers both need and find interesting is the root of our journalistic success,” he said. “The results are a media organization that delivers every day, every hour, every minute.”

Three other Advance Local websites ranked in the top five for market penetration:

MLive in Michigan ranked second with a 24 percent market penetration.
AL.com, the online affiliate of The Birmingham (Ala.) News, ranked fourth with 22 percent.
Nola.com, the online affiliate of The Times-Picayune in New Orleans, ranked fifth with 22 percent.
