OREGONLIVE, a part of Advance Local's Oregonian Media Group and the leading local news website in Oregon and Southwest Washington, has reported another record month for traffic in November 2014. Page views on the site grew by 39% year over year (YOY), peaking at more than 52 million. The increase in traffic was matched by higher reader engagement, with visitors on average viewing 43% more content than in the previous year. While website traffic increased across all platforms, smartphone use was responsible for the largest gains. Smartphones drove 66% more page views and 161% more unique visitors YOY. Tablets saw a 34% boost in page views, followed by desktop page views at 23%.
NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune took home four news video awards Saturday (Dec. 13) at the 38th annual Suncoast Emmy Awards ceremony. Photographers Kathleen Flynn and Julia Drapkin, reporter Rebecca Catalanello and enterprise managing producer Manuel Torres were honored for their multimedia journalism exposing public corruption, child abuse and a lack of services for the mentally ill. Flynn and Catalanello won in the Societal Concerns category for "New Bethany Home for Girls: Women allege childhood sex abuse." Along with photographer Drapkin, they also won in Human Interest for "Central City's Exodus House."
